'Remo Bodei' Summer School of Philosophy

From 22 to 29 July 2026, Roccella Ionica hosts the 17th edition of the 'Remo Bodei' Summer School of Philosophy, a landmark event in the Calabrian cultural calendar that bridges critical thinking, civic engagement, and interdisciplinary dialogue. Promoted by the Scholé Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Roccella Ionica, the Universities of Pisa and Macerata, and Radio Roccella, the School unfolds in the town’s most iconic settings—from the former Convento dei Minimi to the historic Borgo square and the garden of the ‘Elisa Scali’ Study Centre. This year’s theme explores 'matter' not as a static reality, but as a dynamic process of transformation and creation. Building on last year’s focus on 'care,' the program examines our contemporary world, defined by conflict, social inequality, and environmental crisis. Throughout the week, international scholars will lead multi-voice sessions, shared readings, and open debates, welcoming students, philosophy enthusiasts, and the local community to participate in this profound intellectual journey.
