Craving world-class cinema this summer? The Magna Graecia Film Festival is Calabria’s premier summer event, offering a unique chance to meet international and national film stars while discovering extraordinary debut and sophomore feature films in competition. Founded in 2004 by brothers Alessandro and Gianvito Casadonte (the current artistic director), the festival has become a 'cult' highlight of the Calabrian summer. The upcoming edition returns to its roots in the stunning Blue Flag city of Soverato (CZ), nestled within the 'Baia dell’Ippocampo' (Soverato Bay Regional Marine Park). As the only festival of its kind dedicated exclusively to first and second works, the Magna Graecia Film Festival champions young Italian and international auteur cinema, showcasing high-quality films that often struggle to find mainstream distribution while tackling vital social and contemporary issues. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Costa degli Aranci, the festival creates a magical atmosphere with a full daily schedule, including masterclasses, interviews, book presentations, and workshops, leading up to evening screenings and the grand awards finale. *2026 program currently in development.
